How To Manage Your Saved Passwords in Google Chrome

Have you ever forgotten a password? Sure, we all have. That is why there are all sorts of great password managers available today. However, on top of having a ton of great extensions available, the Google Chrome browser comes with a built-in password manager for your convenience.

This allows you to manage saved passwords in Google Chrome. You can do things like auto-fill forms and more if you choose to save all your information.

There is an upside and a downside to this. When you log into your accounts like email, Facebook, etc., Google Chrome asks if you want to save your password. If you do this, how do you delete discarded entries or confidential account information that you don’t want anyone to steal?

If you want to be able to log into an online account yourself without Google Chrome automatically filling out the username and password, then you need to manage your saved passwords.

Luckily there are a couple of different options you have to accomplish what you need here. First and foremost you have the ability to do this right from Google Chrome, as they have built-in tools that allow for this.

However, if you want an alternative, then there is a great password manager you can get that integrates with any browser using an extension, and also allows you to manage all passwords across all your mobile devices.

Let’s take a look at both options and you can choose the one that is best for you.

First off, follow the simple instructions below to manage saved passwords in Google Chrome. After that, let’s take a look at LastPass Password Manager together.

Manage Saved Passwords in Google Chrome

Note: This section assumes you run Google Chrome as your main browser and have a need to save and manage passwords across multiple websites.

First, you want to launch the Google Chrome browser on your computer. The Chrome icon looks like a colored ball with a blue dot at the center. You can find it in your Applications folder on a Mac, or on your Start menu on Windows.

Once the Chrome browser is up and running, click on the three-dot menu located on the top right of the browser menu, then find “Settings” in the dropdown menu and click on that.

Click on the three dot menu to manage saved passwords

This will take you to the main settings page for Google Chrome. Scroll down to the bottom until you see “Advanced” and click on that option. This will open a longer drop down and display the advanced settings available.

Note: The Google Chrome password manage setting may be located at the top of the settings page, without having to click on advanced. This will depend on what version of Chrome you are running.

Click on the advanced tab

Now find the “Password” box section in settings. Click on that and it will launch the password manager page in Google Chrome.

Click on the password box

Here you will find several options. What you do with them is up to you, but this will allow you to manage your passwords in Google Chrome any way you choose.

Auto Save and Login or Confirmation

The first two options are the two main areas you want to look at. You can have Google offer to save passwords every time you put one in. You also have the option to automatically sign in to websites using stored credentials. If disabled, you will be asked for confirmation every time before signing in to a website.

Toggle the blue button on or off next to each option to make your decision.

Fix your google chrome password settings how you want

Below those options, you will find all of the websites that you have saved passwords for.

View sites with saved passwords

You can hover over and click on the small, three-dot menus located next to each website with a saved password you have listed. A little popup box will appear and you can choose to edit details or remove the site from the saved passwords list.

Click on “Details” to have a popup window display where all the relevant information for that website is. You can change anything you want from here as well.

I want it to stop saving because my password for some things changes every 3 months and then I can’t use the new login. I have no way to get the materials for the new quarter because it keeps putting in last Quarters password
